ANOTHER DAY
In the city is a story about a very interesting man I once met who shared his story with me along with my thoughts after spending a day walking around Brisbane city with my family.
The kids were shocked to see a man who had made a home from a box in the corner of an alley and it led me to tell them the story of the man I once met. He had been very poor and had no family, he had little choice but to call the street his home.
Later on he was able to find a different life, became a very wealthy man and travelled around the world. He never felt comfortable with his wealth or success and returned to living on the street of the city where he felt connected and secure.
He is a man I will never forget and story that can have different meanings to different people.
The sun will shine another day is based on the floods in Queensland in 2010/11 along with a saying of my wife that no matter what happens the sun will be up in the morning.
I was laying in bed looking out the window at the rain which I usually love however, all I could think of was the people of Queensland who had been devastated by the floods.
I had a glimpse of the feeling when the water table rose so high it forced water up through the cement slab in the laundry flooding it; and water running so fast down the driveway that it rushed straight through my band room. Although scary to me it was nothing in comparison to many hundreds of Queenslanders who lost everything.
I listened to the radio and watched the news and I saw the amazing strength of the Queensland people and the spirit of those who were helping others, they didn't know, without any expectation of reward.
